Greenville, South Carolina - As part of our upcoming Fall 2012 Speaker Schedule, Richard L. Nelson of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has agreed to speak our group in October meeting on October 5. Mr. Nelson will talk about the rules and guidelines for passing through security check points with wrapped limbs and carried medical equipment. He will talk about 20 minutes and answer questions about the security procedures and exemptions.

Since Lymphedema therapy (which consist of wrapping body partscan be especially complicated when traveling by plane. Also as part of that therapy, our members also may have to carry medical equipment such as medical pumps or lymphedema therapy machines through security when traveling.  This dialog should give our members better insight of how to prepare for travel in airports with Lymphedema.

Richard L. Nelson is the Assistant Federal Security Director for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP).  He was selected for this position in January of 2006.  In this role, Mr. Nelson is responsible for all passenger, baggage, and cargo screening operations at GSP.  He oversees approximately 125 employees.  He serves as a liaison between the Federal Security Director and airline/ airport officials.
