Anderson, South Carolina - Upstate Monarchs is truly saddened by the passing of James "Hal" Stuckey, a strong member of our support group. Hal and his wife, Leila, are great supporters of the Group and often traveled to both the Anderson and Greenville Community meetings. Hal passed away on the morning of July 7th. He was 78 years old.

Hal was a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering. He was Director International Liaison with the Cryovac Division of W.R. Grace Company, which was later purchased by Sealed Air. He also served as a global safety officer with that same company. Hal retired after 37 years of employment. Following retirement he worked as a Sales Associate for Home Depot in Anderson. For fifty years, he served in numerous volunteer positions with the Boy Scouts of America, and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Anderson, and a member and Past President of the Blue Ridge Sertoma Club in Greenville. In his spare time, Hal enjoyed vegetable gardening, traveling, spending time with family, and helping other people. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees.

"Hal's Dedication to Leila spoke to his strong character and quiet strength. We are going to miss his strong example and kind words." said Bobby Clark, UM President. "He was an inspiration to me and to others in the group."

The Funeral service will be at St. John's United Methodist Church in Anderson, SC at 1:30 PM on Saturday, July 11, 2015 with a visitation at the church after the service. The full obituary will be published in Thursday's Anderson Independent paper, but there is a brief obituary on the web site of Funeral Home, McDougald Funeral Home.
